Software configuration auditing is important in multi-version systems because different releases, branches, patches, builds, documents, libraries, and deployment packages must remain consistent across the software lifecycle. Multi-version environments often face risks such as missing change records, incorrect baselines, unapproved modifications, dependency mismatch, version conflict, and release package inconsistency. Traditional configuration management may track versions, but it may not fully verify whether each version follows approved requirements, change requests, build rules, and release standards. This article focuses on software configuration auditing in multi-version systems by examining baseline verification, version comparison, change approval tracking, build artifact inspection, dependency validation, and release record checking. The study discusses how configuration audits can detect unauthorized changes, missing artifacts, inconsistent documentation, and deviations between planned and delivered software versions. The article concludes that effective configuration auditing can improve release reliability, strengthen change control, reduce integration failures, and support long-term software quality in multi-version development environments.
