Usability Evaluation of Web-Based Information Systems

Usability evaluation is important for web-based information systems because users depend on clear navigation, readable interfaces, fast task completion, accurate information access, and simple interaction flows. Web-based systems often include dashboards, forms, search functions, reports, user accounts, transaction pages, and administrative modules that must support different user groups with varying technical skills. Traditional system evaluation may focus mainly on functionality and performance, but it may not fully measure user satisfaction, interface clarity, accessibility, learnability, and error prevention. This article focuses on usability evaluation of web-based information systems by examining task success rate, completion time, navigation efficiency, user error frequency, interface consistency, accessibility compliance, and satisfaction scores. The study discusses how usability testing, heuristic evaluation, user feedback, and interface observation can identify design weaknesses and improve user experience. The article concludes that systematic usability evaluation can improve adoption, reduce user frustration, increase operational efficiency, and support long-term effectiveness of web-based information systems.
