Abstract

Test case prioritization is important for improving regression testing efficiency in enterprise applications because large systems often contain thousands of test cases across business workflows, database operations, APIs, user interfaces, and integration services. Frequent updates in enterprise environments can create regression risks, but executing the full test suite after every change is often time-consuming and resource-intensive. Traditional regression testing approaches may treat all test cases equally, which can delay the detection of critical defects in high-risk modules. This article focuses on test case prioritization as a structured method for ranking regression test cases based on change impact, requirement criticality, defect history, execution time, module dependency, and business risk. The study discusses how prioritized test execution can improve early fault detection, reduce testing effort, and support faster release decisions. The article concludes that effective test case prioritization can strengthen regression testing quality, improve validation coverage, reduce release delays, and support reliable enterprise application maintenance.
