Abstract

Software reliability growth modeling is important for evaluating how web-based systems improve in stability as defects are detected, corrected, and monitored during testing and operational use. Web applications often involve dynamic user requests, distributed servers, database transactions, APIs, session handling, authentication modules, and third-party integrations, which can create complex failure patterns. Traditional reliability evaluation may depend only on final defect counts or uptime records, but these measures do not fully explain how reliability changes over time. This article focuses on software reliability growth modeling as a structured method for estimating failure intensity, defect removal trends, mean time between failures, and release readiness in web-based systems. The study discusses how failure data, testing logs, defect correction history, and operational incident records can be used to model reliability improvement across development and maintenance phases. The article concludes that reliability growth modeling can support better release decisions, improve defect management, reduce service disruption, and strengthen long-term dependability of web-based software systems.
