Abstract

Test execution tracking is an important practice in manual testing environments where test progress, defect status, coverage, and release readiness must be monitored carefully. In enterprise software projects, manual testing can become difficult to control when test cases are executed by different testers across modules, builds, and testing cycles. Poor tracking may lead to missed test cases, duplicate execution, unclear pass/fail status, delayed defect reporting, weak retesting control, and inaccurate quality reporting. This article discusses how structured test execution tracking supports better visibility of testing activities and improves coordination between testers, developers, and project managers. It explains the role of test execution sheets, status reports, defect logs, build records, requirement traceability, retest results, and daily progress metrics in managing manual testing work. The article also highlights common challenges such as inconsistent updates, incomplete evidence, changing test scope, unstable builds, and pressure to complete testing quickly. A structured tracking approach is presented to improve test coverage control, defect follow-up, progress monitoring, and release decision-making. The study concludes that effective test execution tracking improves testing discipline, reduces quality gaps, and supports reliable software delivery in manual testing environments.
