Abstract

Software support ticket analysis is an important practice for maintenance improvement because support tickets contain direct evidence of user issues, defects, enhancement needs, system failures, and recurring operational problems. In enterprise software environments, poor analysis of support tickets can lead to repeated incidents, delayed resolutions, unclear maintenance priorities, overloaded support teams, and weak service quality. This article discusses how structured ticket analysis helps maintenance teams identify issue patterns, affected modules, root causes, resolution time, priority levels, backlog trends, and user impact. It explains the role of ticket logs, severity classification, response records, escalation history, defect linkage, knowledge-base updates, and service-level reports in improving maintenance planning. The article also highlights common challenges such as incomplete ticket descriptions, duplicate records, inconsistent priority assignment, delayed status updates, and poor linkage between tickets and software changes. A structured support ticket analysis approach is presented to improve response efficiency, reduce recurring issues, support preventive maintenance, and strengthen application support quality. The study concludes that effective ticket analysis improves maintenance visibility, supports better decision-making, and enhances the reliability of enterprise software systems.
