Abstract

Software interface testing is an important quality assurance activity in service-oriented applications where multiple services communicate through APIs, messages, data contracts, and shared business rules. In enterprise systems, interface failures may occur due to incorrect request formats, mismatched response structures, authentication errors, timeout issues, version conflicts, weak exception handling, and incomplete service documentation. This article discusses how structured interface testing verifies service communication, input-output validation, data mapping, error responses, security controls, and integration behavior across connected application components. It explains the role of API specifications, service contracts, test data, mock services, logs, traceability records, and regression testing in improving interface reliability. The article also highlights common challenges such as changing service endpoints, unavailable dependent services, inconsistent message formats, and difficulty reproducing distributed failures. A structured interface testing approach is presented to improve defect detection, reduce integration risk, and support stable service deployment. The study concludes that effective interface testing strengthens service reliability, improves application interoperability, and supports dependable delivery of service-oriented enterprise systems.
