Abstract

Software project scheduling is important for controlling time, resources, dependencies, and delivery milestones in software development projects. The Critical Path Method provides a structured scheduling technique by identifying project activities, estimating task durations, mapping dependencies, and determining the longest path that controls the total project completion time. Traditional scheduling approaches may rely on broad timelines or informal task planning, but these methods can fail when activities such as requirement analysis, design, coding, testing, integration, review, and deployment are strongly interdependent. This article focuses on software project scheduling using the Critical Path Method to identify critical activities, calculate earliest and latest start times, measure float, and detect tasks that may delay the entire project. The study discusses how CPM-based scheduling can improve planning accuracy, resource allocation, progress monitoring, and risk control. The article concludes that Critical Path Method can help software teams reduce schedule uncertainty, manage task dependencies, avoid delivery delays, and improve overall project execution.
